All decisions concerning our child’s delivery were made by my wife, because I have the opinion that only a woman knows best what and who might be of help during a special moment like this.

We were lucky enough to welcome our baby at a hospital where both I and Raluca were able to accompany my wife from the beginning till the end of the delivery.
Looking back, I believe the company and support of our caring doula Raluca was priceless.

I perceived it as a great relief to not have to be on my own with my wife once contractions started. Knowing that the two of us were taking care of my wife together, I felt more comfortable. Raluca was a constant emotional support for my wife and advised me empathetically about how to support my wife better during labor.

Although I had already witnessed another delivery before, I must admit that I was not completely able to predict my wife’s behavior this time and, hence, I was not able to appropriately brace myself for the stages of labor. For this reason I personally believe that the emotional support of a doula is important.
Being accompanied by Raluca was the best decision that my wife could have made.
In my opinion, her role during labor was not to replace me as the partner, but rather to encourage me and to direct me on how to support my wife. In our case, the presence of a doula led to the delivery taking place in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. She fulfilled all of her tasks perfectly, for this I’d like to thank her with all my heart.
